The Village of Highland Park's waste is collected through contract with Polk County. There is a yearly fee assessed through non ad valorem taxes annually to cover this cost. All questions should be addressed to Polk County Waste Resource Management 863-284-4319.
WHEN IN DOUBT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS LOCATED ON TOP OF YOUR TOTER
Automated Garbage Collection
Regular garbage is collected every Friday. At this time the Village contracts for curbside service, so leave your toter in an easily accessible location and our contractor will set out and replace your can at the appropriate hours.
*By ordinance all garbage containers must be screened from view, either behind a building, or a planted screen.
Recycleables such as paper, cardboard, aluminum, and plastic shall be placed in your recycling toter. All cardboard should be broken down so as to fit completely within the toter. Any loose materials will not be collected. Recycling is collected on Thursday. Residents are responsible for bringing their own recycling containers to and from the road.
Regular Brush and Green Waste
Brush and other green waste such as clippings and leaves are collected curbside every Thursday. Piles must not exceed 4ftx6ft and should be neatly stacked. If you have a lot of brush separate into multiple piles.
THERE IS NO COLLECTION ON VACANT LOTS
DO NOT PLACE YOUR WASTE ON VILLAGE PROPERTY
Any items which do not fit in your waste container, such as furniture, white goods, and junk, as well as brush piles exceeding the maximum dimensions, must be scheduled for a special pickup.
